Description
This series consists of the building of the Social Security Department Offices building located in Wellington. John T Mair architect, Joe Craig in charge of the project and Lyall Young foreman. At the request of the Prime Minister, Michael Savage, the construction was completed in six weeks. The building replaced the former new building which burnt down just before completion. The building was opened on Monday, March 27 1939 (Arrowhead Christmas 1958)
