Description
This series consists of photographs of the buildings constructed by the Fletcher Construction Company in Wellington. The series includes historic, and contemporary buildings, panoramic views of surrounding areas, construction sites, office towers, factories, warehouses, churches, schools, domestic housing and industrial sites in the Hutt Valley. Many of the photographs have featured in Arrowhead staff magazine, and most have a copy as well as the original B/W print. The photographer for the majority of the photographs was WE Toms of Eastbourne, Wellington which is stamped on the back of the pix, sometimes with a date and handwritten identification of the building. The date range is mid 1955 to late 1960s. The negatives were accessioned at a different date and have a different series number. Also some items had already been removed and arranged into subject based series such as hospitals, housing etc. The copies should be used for LOAN requests. The series includes some of the capitals most well-known buildings such as the Wellington Railway Station , Farmers Dominion building [1917] and Dominion Museum, Civic Chambers and the Centennial Exhibition 1940.
