This series includes the predecessor of Consolidated Metal Industries Ltd (CMI), the Auto Machine Manufacturing Company Ltd. The items include the company premises in Nelson Street and the factory on the corner of Halsey and Victoria Streets in Auckland. Also in Petone, Christchurch and Dunedin.
Many of the items are views of the interior of the factories and men working at the machinery, in particular lathes. Products manufactured by the compamy are also includes such as wire, nails and aluminium cookware.
