Description
W M Booth's Sawmill was located at Carterton in the Wairarapa; the Booth family sold the mill to the Kauri Timber Company in 1947, and in 1961 Fletcher Timber Company Ltd purchased the KTC. The series includes some early views of the original mill and mill machinery. In 1974 the Fletcher Timber Company donated the old steam engine and flywheel from the sawmill to the new Cobblestone Museum in Greytown. The series includes items from the opening ceremony including Jim Fletcher addressing the crowd and views of the Cobblestone Museum at the opening which also celebrated the centennial of Booth's Sawmill on 7 February 1974.
