"Stevenson & Cook Engineering Co Ltd of Dunedin were involved in a 50/50 partnership with Charles Ruvolt of Melbourne to build tin mining dredges. Stevenson & Cook dredge building was revived in the early 1930's for gold mining in Otago and on the West Coast. They later developed tin mining dredges for Malaysia and Philippines. The company built mine sweepers for use in World War II"
