WHANGAREI TRANSPORT LTD 1940-1979
Whangarei Transport Ltd was established in 1939 when five independent carriers formed a company to provide a more efficient and economic transport system in the town and surrounding district. The company was formed in 1940.
In 1960 activities was extended by the opening of a quarry at the southern approaches to Whangarei. Metal from this quarry supplied a concrete aggregate and for other construction needs.
In 1964 the company was acquired bycquired by Winstone Ltd
