The Huntly Brick and Fireclay Co Ltd was established in 1911 and the name was changed to Huntly Brick Co Ltd in 1961
In 1975 the name was changed Winstone Refractories Ltd
Starting with a single kiln with an output of 350,000 per annum, the plant had reached an output of 2,5000,000 brick per annum by 1925. In 1921 the first gas-producer fired chamber kiln in Australasia was installed.
The reffractories plant proding firebricks was virtually rebuilt as a modern plant immediately after World War II in 1947. The increasing demands of industry in quality, quantity and variety and extensive modification and large scale additions resulted in an upto date plant by1968.
