AW Treseder Ltd was founded in 1949 as a joinery company manufacturing doors and furniture. It also had shares in Hutt Timber Ltd, one of its suppliers. In 1960 DA Treseder formed Cemac Holdings Ltd which specialised in supplying and instsalling modular partitioning systems. AW Treseder Ltd continued to operate as the manufacturer.
In 1971 the company decided to expand overseas and began a 50/50 joint partnership with Gardine Engineering of Hong Kong marketing and installing the partitioning products.
The Cemac Group in New Zealand was acquired by Winstone Ltd in 1973 and continued to trade and expand in Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia.
With the sale of Winstone by Brierley Investments Ltd in 1988, ownership of Cemac passed to Fletcher Challenge Ltd. It was sold by Fletcher Challenge in ????
