Stresscrete Industries Ltd
Stresscrete Industries Ltd was established in 1974 as a result of a rationalising move in the prestressing industry in New Zealand.

Certified Concrete Ltd had been a major shareholder in many prestressed concrete businesses throughout New Zealand including a 50/50 joint venture with Stresscrete Waikato. Stan Carwardine had founded Stresscrete Waikato in 1952 and plants were located in Opotiki, Otaki and Tirohia. Other joint ventures included Stratford Stressed Products, Gibbons Concrete (West Coast), NZ Concrete Pipe and Steel (West Coast), Certified Christchurch.[1]

Ownership of the newly established Stresscrete Industries Ltd was Certified Concrete Ltd and The Fletcher Trust and the Carwardine family. Stan Carwardine became managing Director.

Asell as power poles Stresscrete developed its own products including Double T beams for bridge and commercial buildings.

In 1978 the Certified shareholding in Stresscrete Industries Ltd was split between Winstone Ltd and Fletcher Holdings Ltd.

In 1979 Fletcher Holdings bougt Winstone out and in 1980 bought the Carwardine family's holdings and Stresscrete became a fully owned part of Fletcher Holdings.
