Odlins Ltd 1907-1985

In 1901 Charles Camperdown Odlin commenced business as a timber merchant at 28 Hopper St, Wellington. From the beginning his brother Alfred Odlin was an associate and in 1903 the brothers went into formal partnership as C. and A. Odlin, timber merchants. The business continued to expand and in 1907 the company was incorporated as a public company.

The first directors were OS Sullivan, AE Odlin (secretary) & HE Herron & C Hodder (warehouse manager).

In 1924 the centre of the company's timber activities was moved to Petone.

In 1921 Napier Branch was established, followed soon afterwards by Hastings Branch.

In 1923 the Auckland Branch commenced business followed by Palmerston North in 1924, Nelson 1929 & Gisborne in 1936.

The company established its own sawmills at Hastings, Mangapehi, Waikoau, Petone & Palmerston North.

In 1985 the company was acquired by Winstone Ltd
