D. Henrry & Co was established in 1920 in Auckland by Sir David Henry, in association with Sam Oldfield and originally traded under the name of Oldfield & Henry Ltd.

Among the first products sold were the inventions of Harry Starkie who was an employee. The products were the Starkie Water Heater, Starkie Skylights, Starkie Laboratory fittings and Starkie Copper Compression fittings.

In the 1930s a brass foundry and finishing shop were added and City Electroplating Co Ltd was purchased.

In 1941 became Master Selling Agents for New Zealand Forest Products Ltd wallboard goods.

Additional to agencies already established, branches were progressively opened in Wellington 1940, Whangarei 1958, Rotorua 1962, Takapuna 1967 and Henderson 1976.

In 1969 the company purchased Plumbingware Ltd (Hutt Valley) and extended its merchandising facilities to Lower and Upper Hutt.

In 1968 manufacturing operations were transferred to the new factory at Rosebank Road, Avondale, Auckland.

In 1927, the name was altered to D. Henry & Co Ltd until a merger with Jenkins & Mack on 1 April 1980 and then traded under the name D Henry & Co/Jenkins & Mack.

In 1973 D Henry & Co became a subsidiary of Zip Holdings Ltd and in 1975 Zip Holdings Ltd became a member of the Odlins Group

In 1985 Odlins Ltd was acquired by Winstone Ltd and D Henry & o/Jenkins & Mack operations were intergrated with the Winstone divisions
