In the wake of the merger between Winstone Ltd and Fletcher Challenge Ltd in 1988 Fletcher Brownbuilt and Dimond Industries merged to form Fletcher Dimond and was part of the Fletcher Steel Industries Sector.
In May 1988 three areas of activity was formed. The commercial division focusing on the core, roll forming activities. The residential division focusing on roofing and the strustural division concentrating on the area of purlins, composite floorings, especially roll formed products and those previously manufactured by Dimond Industries. Former general manager of Fletcher brownbuilt, Mike kelly was been appointed general manager and Tony Barbarich (former general manager Dimond Industries) deputy general manager.
In 1992 Fletcher Dimond changed its name to Dimond Industries Ltd
