CERTIFIED CONCRETE LTD 1937-1980


1936 James Fletcher, Managing Director of Fletcher Construction Company became interested in the ready made concrete industry which was then in its infancy in the USA.

1937 A joint venture between Winstone Limited and Fletcher
Construction Company established Certified Concrete Limited

1938 The first plant was established in Grant Road, Wellington City and
commenced operations in August 1938.

1939 Second plant opened in Symonds Street, Auckland

1942 Aerodrome's at Ohakea and Whenuapai concrete was supplied for
runways

In centres other than Wellington and Auckland, the company commenced a policy of negotiating with local interests (either cement agents or aggregates producers) for the formation of the Certified Concrete Company which took various percentage share holdings, technical control was vested in the parent company.

1956 Certified Concrete Christchurch Ltd

1960 North Shore Plant

1961 Certified Concrete (Manawatu) Limited and Invercargill

Certified Concrete (Invercargill) Limited

1962 Certified Concrete (Nelson) Limited

1963 Certified Concrete (Hawke's Bay) Limited and No 3 Christchurch Plant

1964 New Lynn Plant (Auckland)

1979 The joint venture split with Winstone Ltd taking the Auckland and Nelson operations and the remainder went to the concrete sector of Fletcher Holdings Ltd and in 1980 became part of the newly established Fletcher Concrete Ltd
