Believed to be the launch of HMNZS Aroha, 8th September 1942.
Reporting at the time stated that:
"H.M.N.Z.S. Aroha, the first minesweeper constructed at the shipyards in Port Chalmers, was launched successfully this afternoon in the presence of about 500 guests. The time-honured ceremony was performed by her Excellency Lady Newall, and the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall, was also present. The Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones) acted as host on behalf of the Government. Following the usual consecration service, Lady Newall named the ship, which was christened with a bottle of New Zealand wine and the vessel slid smoothly down the ways into 15 feet of water."
